Truma iNetBox – What you ever wanted to know

Hello campers, do you have questions about Truma iNetBox? Just use the comment function. We will be happy to answer them.

The Power LED is permanently turned “green”. The GSM LED flashes “red”. Is that ok?

A: Everything is fine! -> As long as you have not yet completed the GSM setup, the red LED will continue to flash. If you have completed the setup, it will go out.

The box is permanently supplied with 12V, even if the main switch is set to “Off”. How can the box be switched off?

A: It is not intended to switch off the box, otherwise you will not be able to use the remote control. In case of a main switch you can connect the box to the corresponding circuit.

Do I need the box, even if I don’t have an app installed?

A: Box and APP are inseparably connected. Without an app you cannot use a box. You can also use the app on its own, the range of functions is accordingly smaller.

There is a new update for Box and App available? How do I find out which one I have and what is up to date?

A: Start the Truma App and go to “Settings\Truma iNet Box Update”, there you will find all information below the “START UPDATE” button.

Truma App version = Describes the current state of your app
iNet Box FW = Software version of your iNetBox firmware
Server = The available firmware version (update) on the Truma server
Local = Describes which firmware version you have downloaded

  1. Hello
I have just bought a second hand caravan which is fitted with a truma iNet box. I have inserted a SIM card and tried to connect my phone via the truma app. I’m getting an error on the app saying I need a PUK code to unlock the iNet box.
Can you tell me how to get this code or reset the iNet box please?
    Many thanks
    Richard.

    • Hello Richard,
the PUK code is part of the SIM card. Please check you SIM card informations. To unlock the PUK it’s neccessary to insert the SIM card into a phone.
      Kind regards

  2. if i want to send a command in messenger for vehicle status or device status the command is not to be seen in messanger any more, i have no idea what command message i have to type and i can not fine a list of commands anywhere in the truma information, is there a command list that i can have please.

    • Hello Laurence,
the command is created by the app. At the end of each message, there’s a unique security code für this time and action. So unfortunately, we can’t send you a command list.
But let us check, why the message is no longer created. Therefore please check what messenger is set as default. Currently there’s a bug with the App “Signal”. So if you habe installed Signal, please uninstall it for trying to create a command via the app once more.
Do you use an iOS or Android device?

      Kind regards,

  3. Hi, I have just had to change SIM in my inet, the old one on Vodafone worked fine (but was very expensive) the new one on Three the app keeps asking for a PIN. Having spoken to Three there is no PIN for the Sim card which is fully activated. Does anyone have any ideas why the inet won’t respond to this new SIM? Thanks

    • Hello Chris,
please check if the SIM card is working properly in a mobile device. Is the PIN requested in your smartphone?

      Many greetings

  4. Hi. I had a big problem with my Truma CP/Inet system last night. It was a very cold night!
I will give the details in case they are relevant.
We recently bought a camper van with a Truma 6DE heater, Truma CP control panel and Truma Inet box.
Initially we just used the panel manually. I then downloaded the Truma app to my android phone and connected via bluetooth. All this was seemless and worked without flaws. Even updating the firmware via bluetooth.
I was able to control the heating via the app whilst in BT range.
After a couple of days of not using the van, we tried to use the heating. Although the manual icons were showing, the heating was not coming on.
After trying a reset, “APP” was displayed. Pressing the rotating dial would not help ( i.e. as I think is mentioned on this thread ). I tried dozens of times.
I could not reconnect to the Inet box using bluetooth. I deleted and re-installed the app, deleted the bluetooth connection numerous times.
I used my wifes phone i.e. a clean phone and a tablet again clean that would not have had any old apps or data stored.
It would not connect to the Inet box. The BT connection was stuck in a “saved” state ( it would connect and pair via my laptop apprently ).
I tried inserting a SIM card I had. I tried resetting the inet box and even unplugging the power cable.
Every time the app would seem to indicate a connection had been made but when I tried the remote control widget, I got the message “cannot find any inet devices”.
After hours of trying, I turned off all BT phone devices and reset the CP box. This time the CP panel started in manual mode and the heating worked.
In summary the CP panel was stuck on APP mode. It would not go onto manual mode by clicking the rotary dial. APP mode was waiting for input from the APP and the APP would not connect to the Inet box.
Is there any hard reboot or reset that I can use in an emergency like this?
    Any advice appreciated.

    • Hello Paul,

it really sounds like your iNet box was stuck in digital nirvana. That’s why what you instinctively did was absolutely right: switch off the power to the iNet box, i.e. disconnect the mains cable for at least 30 seconds. In this way, the entire electronics are discharged and de-energised. After that, perform a reset on the CPplus when everything is reconnected and, ideally, 230V is still present on the vehicle. The CPplus then searches in the background for the information of all connected devices and stores it in its device memory. This is because the CPplus is the master in the system. If an air-conditioning system does not report, or if 230V heating elements installed in the heating system are not supplied with current, they will no longer appear in the device memory after the reset and can therefore no longer be operated.
If the iNet-Box hangs again in the future, you should proceed in the described order.

      Many greetings,
      Alexander Thoma

  6. Hi,

Have set up the iNet Box, Bluetooth working OK. Sim card in and moved away from the van to test sms. Sms sent but no action in the van apart from the gsm blinking red (as if not set up). But was initially set up correctly Any ideas please?

    Many thanks

    Ben

  7. Can you confirm which is the positive wire colour on the supply to the inlet box.

  8. After my caravan battery was at a low level, I charged it up and received the W255H error message. I thought this was due to very low battery power. After reset of the Truma control box the fault message disappeared but thee display icons for all of the power sources, fan etc. have disappeared. Only the settings and clock idisplay icons have remained. How can I get back to the full display and communicate with the heater unit?
    Best wishes, Graham

    • Hi Graham,
Your description and also the warning code W255H seems to be that there is no connection between the control panel and the heater. Please make sure that both units are connected to 12V and if the TIN cable is seated correctly. Then please re-initialise the control panel.
If the connection is correct and the power supply is given, all symbols should be there again.
      Many greetings

  9. Hi,

Why isn’t it possible to use ventilation mode from the app? It’s a useful feature on the CP plus control panel, but not the app.

    Thanks Brian

    • Hi Brian,
unfortunately it´s not an “real” iNetBox topic, it´s an CP Plus missing software feature :/.
Every command/request you sent to your Box will mainly be forwarded to the control panel due it´s the master within the bus-system.
The CP Plus never received the functionality to understand this request from the iNetBox, due this, no ventilation is possible as long as the software of the CP Plus won´t be modified.

  11. Hi I bought the Truma Level Control not realising that it needs the Truma iNet Box to operate.
If I purchase the iNet Box will it operate with my Truma Ultrastore system. If so is it a relatively simple job to connect?

  12. Hi
I held the button on the controller I think for too long, now it shows only APP. How can I get back to the manual control panel please?

  13. I have the error code for low voltage. Even when I am plugged to shore power. It says replace batteries. But my voltage is good 12.8 volts

    • Hi Fred,
do you have more than one battery installed?
If the Truma inetBox is sending an low voltage error, it always remains to the battery the box is connected to.

  14. Hi,

If I don’t shut the control panel down before powering down the van then I get error W225H. My husband used to be able to reset this by switching something on or in the vicinity of the power supply unit. However he’s no longer around and I can’t remember what he did with it. Any advice would be much appreciated.

    Thanks

    Caroline

    • Hello Caroline,
W255H indicates that your heater is not accessible via the CP Plus panel. If you turn off the van and receive this message, your heater is in a separate circuit. It is likely that the CP Plus has been “manually” disconnected from the power in the past. A conversion in a specialist workshop makes sense at this point, so that Truma CP Plus and the heating system run in the same circuit that can be switched off.
