Since spring 2024, so-called HVO, a form of XtL fuel, may also be sold at German petrol stations.
What is HVO for and what are the advantages?
HVO stands for Hydrotreated Vegetable Oils and thus describes paraffinic diesel made from hydrogenated vegetable oil.
The advantages of using HVO are manifold (e.g. lower CO2 emissions of the vehicle, reduced wear due to less nitrogen oxides and particulate matter).
Can HVO also be used with the Truma Combi D?
Yes, Truma diesel heaters are approved for operation with HVO.
Approved fuel types in detail:
- Fossil diesel fuel in accordance with EN 590 or diesel mixtures labelled B7 (maximum admixture of 7% biodiesel/RME/FAME)
- HVO, XtL according to EN 15940 in pure form, as well as their mixtures with pure fossil diesel fuel and B7.
The advantages mentioned above can therefore also be applied to the Truma Combi D of both generations (2008 – today). This makes environmentally friendly camping possible thanks to up to 90% less CO2 emissions. HVO also reduces deposits in the Combi burner.
Note: Before refuelling with HVO (XTL), always check whether the vehicle manufacturer has given approval for this. This can be read directly from the vehicle’s filler cap.
